Whatever we are today is the product of the cumulative influence of people around us, it's very normal that we pass the same thoughts to others. This thought programming becomes our "self-belief" or " Guiding Star". If your self-belief is negative, you pass same belief of fear, despair, incompleteness to your kids; whereas it is of prime importance that you must be a source of happiness, success, completeness for your kids. Some of the normal conversations are like:-
"You are just not good at that", "Can't you do anything right?", "You are a lazy guy", "You don't care about anyone but yourself", so on and on...
I feel the argument behind closed door with kids maybe even stronger than the above examples.
Please think over it. With this kind of conversation & conditioning, even in its most innocent and casual form, young impressionable children are told things which end up working against them. It is like a bad program installed on the computer, which will harm your computer system shortly soon, that is a guaranty.
I know much of these conversations are for proper and ideal upbringing (depends upon
parents maturity). By using negative words, we are pushing our kids in the wrong way. We unknowingly help the child to create an identity which believes that what we as parents are saying is TRUTH and is the REALITY.
We are creating a blueprint, how a child sees and believes himself/ herself inside..... eventually he or she will become. The question is how to go ahead and solve the issue.
As a parent, we need to be more vigilant while using words. Compare these words/ phrases on the scale of negativity and positivity. Try to be more affirmative. Think of the dreams, achievement, you could have accomplished in your own life, think of the talents, skills already within you. Feel great about your body, mind and soul. Just be grateful for everything. Ultimately, you need to change your "Self-belief" or "Guiding Star". Some of you may say "its just not possible"...again negative - self - belief.
I am sure about one thing - everyone has the right to live life happily. A happy life starts with happy thoughts, a series of happy thoughts will become beliefs, these happy feelings will, in turn, manifest into a positive self attitude which will guide you like a star. This positive self-belief will give confidence and strength in day to day chores of life. I pray for everyone's well being and prosperous, healthy life.
